I'm beyond PISSED (sorry)
Ok... since I have to do this weekly blog today I have to get a bit off topic of whatever my original set up is due to an event that happened to my daughter Christian (the 16 year old) at school.
Just to set the stage for the incident at hand not that it should matter, but my kids go to a predominately white school in Bartonville, IL. This school is know for it's many issues with racism toward the few black and brown kids that have attended over the years.
Like... when I tell people where my kids go to school black and white people alike ask me "have you had any issues with name calling" my answer sadly is yes my daughter has had problems, but my son for some reason has not.
Anywho today in the hallway my daughter had an exchange with a girl who rambled off a few slurs laughed with her friends and walked away. Now my daughter is a lot like me and had to gather herself before she made a mistake that would have gotten HER suspended.
She reported it to the Deans office this time, because normally she doesn't and they are supposed to be looking into the incident.
However I am FUMING mad right now. There is no reason my 16 should have to go to school, and put up with this kind of behavior. That same Deans office would have been blowing up my phone if my daughter would have had some slurs of her own to fire back.
It's 2017, and this is still a problem! I'm so mad I could cry, but I have to approach this situation with a certain dignity otherwise I'll be viewed as that "little black nigger bitches" angry mama.
Why do I have to go high when all I want to do is protect my child? My anger is understandable, and my voice should be heard as a concerned mother not a angry black woman.
How do I explain to her that while it's some bull for people to say these things you can't just go around slapping everyone that does because then YOU end up in trouble and prove them right. I know there are some racist people out there and they are passing that crap on to their kids who feel like they can just say what they want with no repercussions.
MY GOODNESS!!!!! This mess has got to stop our future depends on it.
